As we’re getting ready to welcome in 2018, I’m looking back at all of the great books I’ve read this past year. Last January I set a goal to read 50 books in 2017 . I wasn’t sure if I could really do it, but I’ve finished the year with 61 books read!

A Midsummer Night’s Scream By R.L Stine

The new year has only just begun, but we have already read some awesome books. Check out three of our favorites below.
UNDER ROSE-TAINTED SKIES by Louise Gornall
Seventeen-year-old Norah suffers from OCD, agoraphobia, and severe anxiety. Having barely left the house in years, she conducts her life mainly online between online schooling and social media. One day while struggling to get groceries off the front porch, she meets Luke, the new guy next door. Luke is kind, funny, and understanding, but how can she develop a relationship with someone when she can’t leave the house? This book has a lot of humor for such a serious topic and it will give you new insight into mental illness. Fans of Everything, Everything will enjoy this book. Grade 8+
A TOASTER ON MARS by Darrell Pitt
In this fast-paced, quirky science-fiction read, A Toaster on Mars will take you along with agent Blake Carter in the year 2509 as he races to rescue his daughter from the evil genius Bartholomew Badde. Hilarious adventures include battling a mutant cheese sandwich, talking cars, and a planet inhabited by clones of Elvis. Perfect for fans of Doctor Who or The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Grade 7+
EVERYONE WE’VE BEEN by Sarah Everett
After an accident, Addison Sullivan starts to question her own sanity. She finds herself falling in love with a boy that no one else see. This clever mystery is written in chapters that bounce back and forth between and before and after her accident. The twists and turns of this novel take a course you will not be able to guess. I beg you to give this book a read before you look at any spoilers. Grade 8+

Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson
Fifteen-year-old Tiger Lily receives special protections from the spiritual forces of Neverland, but then she meets her tribe’s most dangerous enemy–Peter Pan–and falls in love with him. Grade 8+
Second Star by Alyssa B. Sheinmel
Seventeen-year-old Wendy Darling sets out to find her missing surfer brothers and finds herself on a secluded California beach, where she meets Pete, Belle, Jas, and others, learns to surf, helps some of them steal while avoiding the other’s drug trade, and falls in love. Grade 9+
Never After by Dan Elconin

Unhooked by Lisa Maxwell

Naila is a Pakistani-American teenager with very controlling parents. She is forbidden from having male friends and absolutely cannot date. Because of these restrictions, she keeps her romance with classmate Saif a secret. But when her parents find out about her deception, she loses everything. To get her away from Saif, her parents plan a trip to Pakistan to visit family. The true 
purpose of the trip is revealed when Naila discovers her parents are interviewing men for her to marry. Naila must escape the confines of an escaped marriage before it is too late.
Written in the Stars is a great window into another culture, and it is a real page turner. I read it in one sitting and I highly recommend it for teens 14 and up.

ot all teen romance books are created the same. Young adult readers in grades 8 to 12 will really be able to sink their teeth into I Remember You by Cathleen Davitt Bell. The story is about a hockey player who time travels and gets to relive his relationship with the girl he let get away. With elements of science fiction, this is a romance that even guys might like.
